On-site ClO₂ generation — pH 4–10 effective, no THMs, superior biofilm control.
The CG Chlorine Dioxide Generator™ produces high-purity chlorine dioxide (ClO₂) on-site — one of the most powerful and versatile biocides for water and wastewater treatment. Unlike chlorine and sodium hypochlorite which lose efficacy at higher pH and form carcinogenic trihalomethanes (THMs), ClO₂ remains effective across pH 4–10, forms no THMs or chloramines, and maintains disinfecting power at lower dosages. ClO₂ also exhibits superior penetration and destruction of biofilm — critical for cooling towers, drinking water networks, and food-grade water where Legionella harbouring biofilm is a persistent problem. On-site generation eliminates storage and handling hazards associated with bulk chlorine.
ClO₂ is produced through a controlled reaction between sodium chlorite (NaClO₂) and a dilute acid activator (HCl or H₃PO₄) in a purpose-designed reactor vessel. Precision peristaltic pumps meter reagents in exactly controlled stoichiometric ratios. The ClO₂ gas generated is immediately absorbed into a water carrier stream, producing a ClO₂ solution (0.1–2.0 g/L) which is dosed into the target water stream. The system includes gas leak detection, automatic reagent shutoff, and ventilated generator cabinet. Dosing is controlled by flow-proportional metering or residual ClO₂ sensor feedback.
