CG DAFβ„’ Radial Flow

Circular radial-flow DAF β€” high throughput per mΒ², robust under variable loading conditions.

Overview

The CG DAFβ„’ Radial Flow system is a circular dissolved air flotation unit with centre-feed radial hydraulics achieving efficient flotation with high throughput per unit of plan area. Feed water enters at the centre and flows radially outward, providing a longer effective flotation path than a rectangular tank of equivalent area and eliminating hydraulic dead zones found in rectangular designs. The rotating skimmer arm continuously removes floating sludge from the entire surface while a conical floor directs settled solids to the centre drain. The radial flow configuration is particularly robust under variable incoming flows and is most cost-effective for large-volume applications up to 8,000 mΒ³/day per unit.

Working Principle

Chemically conditioned wastewater enters the centre of the circular tank through a submerged feed pipe and distribution baffle. Recycle water supersaturated with dissolved air at 5–7 bar is released through micro-pore nozzles at the centre, generating micro-bubbles throughout the contact zone. As flow moves radially outward, velocity decreases progressively (cross-sectional area increases with radius), providing excellent conditions for gentle flotation. A motor-driven rotating skimmer arm sweeps the entire surface continuously, moving float sludge to a peripheral collection trough. Clarified effluent collects at the outer perimeter weir. Heavy settled solids collect on the conical floor and drain periodically.

Key Technical Features

  • Circular radial-flow β€” no dead corners or short-circuiting
  • Highest hydraulic loading per mΒ² of any DAF configuration
  • Rotating skimmer arm β€” uniform sludge removal from full surface
  • Conical floor β€” gravity collection of settled solids
  • Peripheral effluent weir β€” uniform hydraulic take-off
  • FOG removal: >90%, SS removal: >85%
  • Most economical for high flow rates (200–8,000 mΒ³/day)
  • RCC or steel tank construction
  • PLC automated control

Frequently Asked Questions

What size tanks does CG supply? +
CG Radial Flow DAF units are available from 5 m to 30 m diameter, treating 200 to 8,000 mΒ³/day per unit. Multiple units can be installed in parallel for larger flows.
Can the rotating skimmer handle thick sludge? +
Yes β€” the variable-speed skimmer drive handles sludge blankets up to 200–300 mm thick. A sludge dilution spray can be integrated for very high FOG loads producing thick float sludge.
