Multi-media pressure filtration — SS <5 mg/L and turbidity <1 NTU for reuse-grade effluent.

The CG Mechanical Filter™ is a pressure-driven multimedia filtration system for tertiary polishing of biologically treated effluent, drinking water clarification, and industrial process water treatment. A layered bed of anthracite, sand, and garnet captures residual suspended solids and turbidity passing through secondary biological treatment, producing consistently low-turbidity effluent suitable for NEQS-compliant discharge, direct reuse, or further membrane treatment (UF/RO). The system operates automatically with timed or differential pressure-triggered backwash cycles using combined air scour and water flush, requiring minimal operator intervention.
Pre-treated water is pumped through the top of the filter vessel under pressure (0.5–3 bar) and flows downward through the layered media bed. Coarse anthracite in the upper layer captures large floc and suspended particles. The middle sand layer removes finer particles. The bottom garnet layer provides fine polishing. Suspended solids accumulate progressively until the differential pressure reaches the set trigger point. A pressure-triggered backwash cycle initiates: simultaneous air scour and upward water wash fluidise and clean the media, backwash water carries removed solids to a waste channel, and the media re-stratifies ready for the next filtration run.
